Backcountry Compact Mini-Pro T

Our Backcountry Compact Mini-Pro Shovel is the choice of mountaineering professionals worldwide. Constructed of heat-treated aluminum this is a shovel that won't let you down when the conditions are tough.

Though the shaft is the compact version, it still extends to more than 3 feet (93 cm) and shrinks to 26 inches (66 cm) when you need it short. The Mini-Pro blade 9.5 x 9.5-inch scoop is made of premium tempered aluminum for strength and durability. Deadman holes allow for use as an emergency anchor. From the outside the shaft appears to only expand large enough to create one stretcher bar for a rescue sled. Look closer and you'll see the second stretcher bar hidden in two concentric cylinders inside. Pull and expand these to create two stretcher bars that work with Brooks-Range rescue sleds.
