For the ultimate in cold weather insulation, down is the best there is. The higher the fill rating for down, the better the insulating properties it provides. At Brooks-Range, we use Eastern European 800-fill down in our Alpini line of clothing. This down lofts up quickly and more dramatically creating a superb barrier to the cold outside while trapping body heat inside.
