Our UltraLite Alpini Bivy Sack is inspired by the elite Italian Alpine Corps. Formed in 1872, the Alpinis are the oldest active mountain infantry in the world, and to this day they are among the best trained and equipped mountain troops anywhere.
The Brooks-Range Alpini is serves as a super-light, one-person bivy bag, with or without a sleeping bag. Cut large enough to accommodate most standard length sleeping bags, the Alpini is constructed with our ultralight, waterproof/breathable ripstop nylon specially designed and fabricated for Brooks-Range. The floor of this lightweight shelter is completely waterproof, made of durable coated ripstop nylon. A short zip simplifies entry, along with a deep cowl-cover over the head and an elastic drawcord closure. Highly compressible, the Alpini packs to half the size of a one liter bottle.

Brooks-Range UltraLite™ Fabric
Brooks-Range UltraLite™ fabric used is specially designed for our UltraLite products. This air-permeable, water-resistant ripstop nylon is incredibly strong and resilient for its weight! It has an impressive strength-to-weight ratio and ability to withstand wind shear. The fabric's calendered finish keeps the fabric waterproof to a pressure of 1 pound per sq inch (2 ft water pressure depth), which exceeds the pressure generated by a driving rainstorm. Due to this custom finish it does not absorb water and the coating will not wash or peel off as it is a mechanical property of the fabric. With use, our UltraLite™ fabric will soften and become more pliable. Certain types of dry desert sand will stick to it. The Brooks-Range UltraLite™ fabric is highly flammable,so keep it clear of direct flames and all heat sources.
